THE ART OF SELF-INQUIRY

Applying yogic principles (and beyond!) to deeply understand & care for ourselves & others

October 20 – 23

Pagosa Spring, Colorado

In this training, we’ll explore the self, (or selves) through many different maps – from neuroscience to ritual to movement – to revel in the magic & take a compassionate look behind the curtains to uncover what makes us, us. The more we uncover about our multitude of inner layers, the more fascinating we become.

A 30 Hour Immersion

“I am not one and simple, but complex and many.”
- Virgina Woolf

Svadhyaya is the Sanskrit word for self-study/self-inquiry.  We like to think of it as the essence of CURIOSITY.

We often think that we know who we are….of course we do right? But how do we know and where did what we know come from? Do we give ourselves space to change our minds? To change ourselves?

An incredible amount of our human existence remains a miraculous mystery. At the same time, much continues to be uncovered about why we are the way we are (and don’t worry, it’s good news!). We love science and we love magic. This course hopes to remind us that magic is very much alive and can, and does, live within reach of our understanding.

HERE’S A MAP OF OUR JOURNEY…

(SPIRITUAL)

Power of Ritual + Sadhana

Why has ritual been practiced for thousands of years, across cultures? How can we use ritual practically + authentically in our lives?

(EMOTIONAL)

Emotional Intelligence

How does neuroscience explain emotions? How does our own language shape the way we understand our own emotional experiences?

(PHYSICAL)

Somatic Mapping + Practices

How can we work with our physical state to tap deeper into our emotional journey? Can we use physical practice to help us maintain balance?

(BIOLOGICAL)

Nervous System Literacy

How does an awareness of our biological rhythms support regulation and attunement to both ourselves and others?

We’ll explore the topics above through experiential learning:  daily yoga + meditation practices, connecting with nature, building earth altars,  journaling, ritual, satsang (group discussion + inquiry), optional + recommended hot springs excursion and…laughter—-because we must not forget to PLAY!
