We are in every moment nurturing something – whatever we practice grows. Either we are growing separation, judgment & fear or, at The Buddha’s encouragement, we could cultivate kindness, compassion, appreciation & a centered steadiness, aka the Brahma Viharas. These innate qualities take us deep into the limitless potential of the heart. We will also investigate the 3 Marks of Existence, which are the fundamental pillars of the nature of reality. Working with instead of against these foundations can create more harmony in our lives.
At the heart of Buddhist meditation is a quality of directed attention and investigation called sati, generally translated as “mindfulness.” Get intimate with the Buddha’s original contemplative invitations in the Four Foundations of Mindfulness and embark on an accessible, daily meditation practice while learning how to authentically lead meditations for others.
Maransati means “mindfulness of death”. It is potent practice, embracing life’s transience and death’s inevitability, though it is not as grim as it seems. Contemplate how taking in the reality of our finitude and facing the truth of death can support us to live deliberately, enhancing gratitude and unlocking a more vibrant and precious experience of life.
